COLORECTAL CANCER<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Colon cancer originates from mucosal cells in the colon, while rectal cancer develops in the lower 15 cm of the intestine. Advances in treatment now ensure 85% of colon cancer patients in Denmark remain relapse-free.\u00a0<\/p>

For rectal cancer, 72-75% survive five years, but nearly half face long-term side effects, often requiring a temporary or permanent stoma.<\/p>

PANCREATIC CANCER<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Pancreatic cancer develops in the pancreas, an organ located behind the stomach that produces hormones and digestive enzymes.<\/p>

Unfortunately, survival rates remain low. This is primarily because the disease is often detected at a late stage, and surgery is the only known curative treatment.<\/p>

Hernias are the most common issue in this focus area. <\/p>

A hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue that holds it in place. For example, the intestines may break through a weakened area in the abdominal wall.<\/p>\n

Most hernias aren\u2019t immediately life threatening, but they sometimes require surgery to prevent complications, that could become dangerous to the patient. <\/p>\n

Abdominal ultrasound imaging is used to to visualise abdominal anatomical structures.\u00a0<\/p>

Abdominal ultrasound can be used to diagnose abnormalities in various internal organs, such as the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and abdominal aorta.<\/p>
